In the hydraulic torque converter, the direction of oil flow, in the increase of the guide Wheel torque converter, automatic torque converter oil from the turbine into the direction of the guide will change, when the oil flow back to the pump wheel, the flow direction is the same as the direction of the pump wheel movement, which strengthens the rotation torque of the pump wheel, and then increases the output torque, which is the reason that the torque converter can increase the torque.

The role of one-way clutch, because the wheel shaft is equipped with one-way clutch, so that the guide wheel in the oil from the turbine from the impact, can remain motionless, so that the guide wheel changed through its oil flow direction, and then to increase the role of torque.

When the torque converter becomes coupler, the fluid flow direction of the torque converter, when the turbine starts to rotate (ie, after the car starts), rotates the turbine so that the direction of the oil flowing from the turbine to the guide wheel changes. Under the centrifugal force generated by the turbine rotation, the oil flow is no longer directed to the guide wheel, but over the guide turns back to the pump wheel. Flow back pump wheel oil flow direction is no longer the same as the pump wheel, thus losing the role of strengthening the pump rotation moment, so at this time the hydraulic torque converter has become a hydraulic coupler, no longer has the effect of increasing torque. When the wheel starts to rotate, as the turbine speed continues to increase, from the turbine into the guide wheel of the oil shocks to the back of the guide pulley to the same direction as the turbine and pump rotation.
